Technology Attorney Advisor
Gordon has been helping innovators and entrepreneurs to commercialize their ideas for over 30 years. He has written and prosecuted over 500 US patent applications and directed patent prosecution in China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada, and Europe for hundreds more applications. He has negotiated licenses and directed litigation also in the US, Asia, and Europe.
After graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A. Physics, B.A. Scandinavian Languages) and California Western School of Law (Magna Cum Laude), he learned his craft initially from experienced experts at a highly respected intellectual property law boutique law firm in Pasadena. This work included preparing and prosecuting patent applications, opposing trademark applications, advising on maintaining and using copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets and litigating for patent infringement, breach of contract including patent and technology licenses, antitrust violations, and more. Pasadena is a beautiful city and Gordon enjoyed skiing Mount Baldy in the winter and sailing Point Fermin in the summer.
During this time Gordon took six months to work with European Patent Agents and German Patent Agents (Patentanwälte) in Munich, Germany, the home of the European Patent Office. He prosecuted European patent applications and consulted on a variety of infringement and United States law issues. Munich is another beautiful city close to great Alpine ski resorts and within a day’s travel to many of Europe’s other great cities.
Gordon then went in-house to Hughes Aircraft Company and Litton Systems as intellectual property counsel to commercial and government contracting divisions within these two great aerospace companies. Gordon advised on patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, data rights, and contracts issues, and directed litigation for groups across the country and in Germany. At Hughes, he was counsel to the Space and Communications Group, Hughes Communications, Hughes Network Systems, Directv, the former Magnovox Electronic Systems of Fort Wayne, Ind., the Electro-Optical Systems Division, and ELCAN (Ernst Leitz Canada), among others. At Litton, he was counsel to Litton Guidance and Control Systems Division, Aero Products Division, Data Systems Division, LITEF, and TELDIX, among others.
Since 2000 Gordon has worked as outside counsel in Denver, Colorado for individuals, medium-sized businesses, and major international corporations.
Peer Reviews
I managed one of the largest patent portfolios at Intel Corporation, and Gordon was my go-to for particularly difficult high-technology patent applications, where two or more technologies had to be synergized into a patent. Because the depth and breadth of Gordon’s knowledge and his professional attention to detail, I was guaranteed world-class work, including international patent coverage. As his client, I received timely and under-budget work product at the highest level of competence.

— Hiring Partner in Intellectual Property
Mr. Lindeen is the person I would hire for any IP (and related) matter. He's at the top of his field and fellow practitioners properly look up to him on that basis. He's smart, he's experienced, and he's ethical. But moreover, he's humble and self-effacing. He doesn't need to be, but it just makes him that much more likable. Hall Estill is darned lucky to have him.
— Partner in Intellectual Property
Anyone with a patent issue would be well-served to work with Gordon. His experience and qualifications speak for themselves.
